Te Kete Aronui Makers Market is a chance for Māori arts and crafts makers and entertainers to come together for a fun, family day in celebration of Matariki, the Māori new year. This is a unique opportunity to shop local and to support artists and craftspeople and purchase a taonga or two. The market is named for one of the three baskets of knowledge brought to mankind by Tāne Mahuta, which was said to contain knowledge relating to arts and crafts, to benefit the Earth and all living things. Visit a pop-up stardome, enjoy delicious kai and listen to some great entertainment while you’re there. Free parking is available.
Proudly supported by Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT).
We are calling for artists and stallholders to be part of Matariki Kete Aronui. Preference will be given to local arts and craft makers – please contact ella.mizrahi@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz before 12noon on Friday 3 July for more information or to register your interest.
