Love Welly, Ditch Plastic

To support local businesses, we'd like to dedicate Plastic-Free July to showcasing local businesses taking responsibility and doing their bit to reduce single-use plastic, and then have an awesome party to celebrate them!

But... we need your help finding identifying them. From now until midnight Sunday 26 July we want you to point out your local plastic-free superheroes.

So…

- if your local takeout swapped out plastic containers for home compostable ones, we want to hear about it!

- if you know of an awesome cafe refusing to use single-use cups, we want to hear about it!

- if your online orders (food, drink and otherwise) arrive free of plastic - we want to hear about it!

- even if your local food joint provides incentives for you to BYO containers, you know it - we want to hear about it!

The idea is simple…

To share how your favourite local (in Wellington, Kapiti, Porirua, Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt and Wairarapa) is fighting plastic pollution with a plastic-free solution, all you need to do is:

Tell us a bit about them (mainly, name and location) as well as a brief outline of what they have done to reduce plastic waste in the last 12 months + Submit a photo/video of the business OR a photo of you outside the business by midnight on Sunday 26 July

You can email your nomination through to advice@sustaintrust.org.nz - with ‘Love Welly, Ditch Plastic’ in the subject heading or post it directly on the Facebook page.

This is your opportunity to help spread their awesomeness. We will reward them with a feature piece on our website, across our social media channels and in our upcoming newsletter.

Love Welly, Ditch Plastic Celebration

On Wednesday, 29 July from 5.30 pm-7.00 pm join us for a fun night to celebrate these business champs, add your own plastic-free pledge to our tree and be part of the movement to turn Plastic Free July into plastic-free forever.

This event is open to the public. Tickets are $5-$10 per person.. And yes, drinks and nibbles are included in the ticket price.
