Interconnectedness is becoming a key word, post-Covid. Steve Liddle reviews approaches to liberation politics in Israel-Palestine - and some established roadblocks to progress. Do our cultural differences and isolation side-line us, or can we part of a solution?
Steve Liddle is a teacher and researcher based in Napier. A masters graduate of Auckland University where he studied anthropology, psychology and assorted liberal arts, he taught Classical Studies and English for 25 years, was a journalist in Australia and New Zealand for six. Last year he spoke to us about working on an archaeological dig in Shikhim outside Nazareth in 2017 and his time as visiting teacher at one of 17 universities in the West Bank in 2018. . In June he accepted an invitation to give a talk to the Palestinian Solidarity Network Aotearoa-New Zealand in Christchurch, and in September gave a pecha kutcha in Havelock North on thinking behind fresh calls for social justice solutions in Israel-Palestine.
