The Wellington area of Creative Fibre (the New Zealand Spinning, Weaving and Woolcrafts Society Inc.) begins at Cook Strait and includes north to Levin and across to Masterton, with many groups meeting regularly to practise their crafts.
In this exhibition the members showcase a broad range of fibrecrafts using both traditional and contemporary techniques from hand felting to hand knitting, crochet, hand weaving, hand spun yarn and fibre art. The natural fibres used are similarly vast, and include wool, silk, alpaca, mohair, flax, cotton and Tencel.
The members of Creative Fibre Wellington have embraced the theme of ‘Four Seasons’ to also engage with a full spectrum of colour. From three-dimensional fibre art, to garments and delightful wall hangings, there will be something for everyone to enjoy in this exhibition.
