FRIDAY 3rd JULY 'Richard Jewell' M Directed by Clint Eastwood 2019
Based on the true story of Richard Jewell, a security guard who discovered a bomb and saving many lives at concert at Centennial Olympic Park during the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. He was seen as a hero by many and a suspect by the FBI and press.
Why did this not make it to Best Picture in 2019? and how did P.W. Hauser or Sam Rockwell not get a nomination for their work?
Richard Jewell is a true, amazing story of the reality and sadness of the American system in relation to crimes. Performances drive this film, Paul Walter Hauser is outstanding, having to account both his resemblance to the real Jewell and his amazing acting skills which still remain unkown to many. Sam Rockwell (3 Billboards) is one of the best actors working these days, and he should've been awarded his 3rd nomination in a row for Best Supporting Actor, Kathy Bates was also incredible, she was true and relatable. Others such as Jon Hamm and Olivia Wilde properly fulfill the picture's ensemble as well.
Director, Clint Eastwood is simply amazing. Being in the industry for over 70 years and still managing to impress. The plot is handled with sensitivity and intensity, and the thrilling scenes are memorable with a properly written script which has brought this thought provoking story to life. This film is captivating and gripping from the first scenes and it manages to keep you hooked and rooting for the good guys from the moment of the incident. It's sad to remember this as a true story because it definitively shows how flawed the law society still is in the USA
