Growing up in Palmerston North, Paraburdoo and beyond.

The story of a boy whose parents shift to Palmerston North in the 1940’s, marry and a child is born in the Maternity Wing of the PN Public Hospital in 1949. It's life in the 1950s, 60s and 70s at a furniture shop in Main Street by the railway station, a Four Square grocery on the corner of Victoria and Main and then 95 Roy Street over near Russell Street Primary School.

Freyberg High, Massey University, the Longburn Freezing Works, the PNCC rubbish cart and other holiday jobs on farms up the Pohangina Valley, out at Kairanga and Makino (near Fielding) all feature.

The story moves to West Australia, as with many Kiwis, working in the mines and construction camps and back flatting in Grey Street and leading the university life in the early 70s.

The boy moves to sunny Gisborne, gets his OE along the Hippie Trail through Asia and finally a career in town planning in the Bay of Islands.
At heart he remains a Palmy Boy.
