Be a Part of An Upper Harbour Story Project

Sharing stories across Upper Harbour

Are you interested in the history of Upper Harbour?
Would you like to help collect the stories of current and previous residents?

From Albany Heights to West Harbour, Whenuapai to Hobsonville, the Upper Harbour area is brimming with tales just ripe for the picking.

Upper Harbour Local Board have engaged community arts organisation, Flock, to help bring those stories together and find a way to share them across the area. The first phase of this project is to digitally record them, create a website to house them and host small community events to share them.

We are in need of a few volunteer story keepers in each area to help us collect these golden threads and weave them together during simple recording sessions.

You don’t need to have any particular skills in technology - if you can use a phone, you can do this. Aside from being part of an interesting community project, you’ll also gain skills in interviewing, recording, and creating a story. People for whom English is a second language will be a valued part of this team.

If you would like to be a part of this project then come along to our information evening. Volunteering involves just a few hours per month collecting stories between April and June and all you need is to be a good listener and happy to help someone record their memories.
