SYNOPSIS
The Redmonds have an unusual relationship with their dream home. With the kids now raised, it's finally time to move on. But they don't just want to sell the place – they want to entrust it to its next owners, so that the new people can have the same great life there as they've had. So, the Redmonds have specially selected the buyers – the Libetts. After the official sale, both couples gather in the house for celebratory cocktails and a ceremonial handover of keys. But their party starts turning increasingly awkward as the Libetts reveal that they plan to make changes to the Redmonds’ beloved family home. The Redmonds get cold feet. Before long, the situation spins further and further out of control. Insults fly. People become nasty and things crescendo into a climax of absolutely ridiculous proportions.

Audition Information
The House is a 90-minute play without an interval and no scene changes. I am looking for 4 actors who are ready to take risks, have a laugh and grapple with the challenge of a play that is all about the fast-paced dialogue and chemistry between the characters.
All character ages are guidelines only. For the audition, please do not learn the lines – just be familiar with them. I would much rather actors weren’t worrying about remembering lines in the audition so they could just focus on the sense of play with the characters.
I encourage you all to try to audition in a general/standard American accent if possible. However, there will be an opportunity to work on these accents during the rehearsal process, so don't worry if you can't do one.

Characters
Martyn: 50s-60s, a dentist on the cusp of retirement, seems like a regular guy, but has a wicked sense of humor and can become a beast when defending his turf. Strong comic ability.

Shanny: 50s-60s, Martyn’s wife, has never worked and is proud of it. Incredibly attached to the family home and determined to keep it from changing. She can turn from a Stepford wife to a harpy. Strong comic ability.
Audition pages 13 - 14 (small monologue), 41 - 42, 58 - 61

FISCHER: 30s, Husband to Lindsay, he is a financial manager who can only hold his tongue for so long and often says things out loud that should probably remain unsaid. Strong comic ability.

Lindsay: 30s, Married to Fischer. An attorney. Intelligent but has the ability to put her foot in it without realising. Strong comic ability.
