Affetto has participated in the Auckland Fringe, twice winning the award for “Best Musical Production”. Formed in 2010, the group is renowned for innovative and uplifting programming, beauty of sound, and for bringing forgotten music to life in new ways.

"...this was true ensemble performance characterized by balance and warmth of tone and a virtuosity which comes from a passion for and an appreciation of music which is rarely heard - the music or the passion." - Waikato Times

"Affetto doesn’t just give us an academic glimpse into a bygone era. Affetto transports us there, to celebrate the lives, loves, joys and torments of those who populated that place in time – men and women just like us. They step out of history into our hearts and minds. Here is early music-making at its very best - impeccable musicianship, inspired interpretation and innovative programming." - Palmerston North Tribune

''Affetto perform with an expertise, a playfulness, and joy that can only come from the deepest love of what they do.'' - Theatreview

The Italian word ‘affetto’ means mood, emotion or affect, and is both the name and the nature, the group strive to take the audience on a sonic journey from plaintive to passionate, serene to sensational.
