The Smith whānau had nothing… But when they sang… They had everything.
Following a sold out world premiere in November 2019, a special summer season has been announced for February 2020 at the Energy Events Centre, Rotorua.
Over four hilarious nights this comedy extravaganza, with singing, dancing and laugh-out-loud jokes, will leave you chuckling into the night!
Set in Rotorua during the 1960s and 70s, 8 Scott Ave follows a day in the life of local Māori ‘bookie’ Jimmy Smith alongside his larger than life sisters (the Aunties) and whānau who love to dance, eat, drink and most of all, sing.
Reviews have hailed this production a ’’laugh-out-loud, sing-a-long comedy that promises an engaging night out at the theatre” and “a nostalgic slice of Rotorua life”.
Talented writer, director, actor and musician, Jack Grace, brings his own childhood in Ōwhata to the stage in this hilarious show. Jack Grace has a passion for bringing Rotorua stories to life and since moving back to his hometown last year has set about telling the city’s stories through his unique blend of comedy, music and heart.
The audience is welcomed to sing-a-long to well-known tunes as you share the day in the life of this typical Rotorua family in the 1960s.
