The past few days have still left me devastated like many of you. Frustration, Anger, Tears, Confusion on state of belonging- all of it has gone through my mind but the most important message which has come out of all of this is from the people directly affected by this event- that Love Trumps Hate- the families of the victims and the Muslim Community have shown so much compassion, love and forgiveness and that message is leading the way to a better New Zealand and pushing conversations on what work needs to be done to combat racism, white supremacy and extremist attitudes of any form and face.
Their message has focused my attention on Love and compassion and with that, we shall move on. New Zealand is our home.
As a POC immigrant, I will move on with their message.
With the support of my amazing friends and industry colleagues at Rydges Wellington and Lululemon, they have kindly provided their conferences spaces and yoga mats to run my yoga classes for Fundraising (koha/cash on the day- no minimum or maximum) towards the Muslim Community. All donations will go towards the Muslim Community. I will update you on how much has been raised and how the money is being utilised.
