Whakapuakitanga: Expressions Matariki Art Exhibition

Whakapuakitanga: Expressions, an art exhibition to celebrate Matariki at Maungawhau. A fun day out for the whole whanau!

This multi-dimensional art exhibition at The Kiosk @ Maungawhau features works from 10 artists living and working in Tāmaki Makaurau that took part in an arts therapy programme facilitated by community organisation PARS (People at Risk Solutions). Our artists collective were supported by community volunteers that worked alongside them in the spirit of Ako, to learn from each other.

The theme Whakapuakitanga: Expressions was developed by the artists and speaks to the emergence of creativity and a journey of renewal, discovery and growth.

Our artists include a carver, canvas painters, a portrait painter, graffiti artists, and greenstone, wood and shell artists. All of the artists bring a strong sense of cultural identity to their work.

Our artists will guide you through their work for display and for sale.
We warmly welcome you to Mangawhau to share this unique event for Matariki with us.

Gold coin koha entry.
There will be real fruit ice-cream, kai and drinks for sale at Whau at The Kiosk on Maungawhau during the exhibition.
