The 2019 Volume Mapua Literary Festival is a boutique literary festival featuring some of New Zealand’s best and most interesting writers. Organised by Volume, the 2018 New Zealand Bookshop of the Year, the festival continues the series of literary events held in Mapua to benefit the Mapua Community Library. All ticket sales benefit the library.
Paula Morris’s latest book uses fiction to explore fact, and fact to explore fiction. Family members and famous figures rub shoulders with wholly invented characters in often actual locations and situations. What is the relationship between truth, secrets and lies?
Paula Morris is of Ngati Wai and English descent. She teaches creative writing at the University of Auckland, and will be coming to Mapua fresh from being the 2019 Katherine Mansfield fellow in Menton.
Paula will be in conversation with book festival veteran Jacquetta Bell.
