Interested in learning more about short filmmaking? Hear from three top filmmakers as they each screen one of their films and discuss how they made it, in a facilitated Q&A. A range of topics are covered, such as: finding collaborators; funding and budgeting; script development; challenges for directors; post-production; and other tips for aspiring filmmakers. Everyone is welcome, whether you’ve already made heaps of films or are just curious to learn more about what goes on behind the scenes.
The films and filmmakers will be:
- Walk a Mile: Kiwi writer/director Judith Cowley and her producer Sarah Anne Dudley will walk us through the steps they took in making their film.
- ヒゲとレインコート (Beard and Raincoat): Japanese writer/director Kimi Yawata will discuss her short and what inspired her to make a story about someone with a beard fetish.
- Tony the Tiny Pony: Kapiti coast director Ned Wenlock creates award-winning animations with a unique style. He talks about his process.
