To raise awareness about the Ministry for the Environment's proposed Product Stewardship Consultation Document Submission Opportunity (deadline is 4 October), Grey Lynn 2030 Waste Away is running a Pop Up Bottle Drive.

It's simple - on 29th of September (from 9am - 12pm) YOU bring us your bottles and cans (ANY beverage container - glass, plastic, aluminium) up to 10 items per individual or family, and we'll give you free $$$$$ in return.

We'll be giving out 20c for empty clean containers of any kind (drinks, wine, milk, etc. - carton, glass, cans & plastic).

Yep - you heard us - we've got money to give away and it's going to be an amazing fundraising opportunity for you and your community group/ whānau to make some pocket money whilst making our circular economy go around!

Save up your empties and get your kids to clean up the local neighbourhood or beach in this week leading up to this event, bring them in and make some $$.

What: You collect your bottles and cans (up to 10 items per individual or family) and bring them to us in exchange for 20c refund for empty clean containers of any kind (drinks, wine, milk, etc. - carton, glass, cans & plastic).

Why are we doing this?
Because we want to get a bottle refund system for Aotearoa - it's a waste collection system tons of countries have already, whereby you get a refund on all beverage containers when you return them to a collection point (like your local supermarket, community centre or school). You get money back and we all get to have clean streets, beaches and higher recycling rates. It's a win for people and planet and we need a fantastic scheme like this in Aotearoa NOW!

Regulatory Product Stewardship is the next step to get a Cash for Containers scheme implemented in New Zealand!

There will be information about how you can make your submission to the MfE's proposed Product Stewardship Consultation Document.

NB: We have funding from the awesome Kiwi Bottle Drive to give out refunds but it is not unlimited! This means come early! We will have to limit the amount of funding per individual or family to 10 items. Thanks for understanding everyone!
