“Borrows inspiration from folk, blues and country…” – Beat Magazine
“Laid back tales of an old soul with a guitar. Really delightful listening…” – Nkechi Anele (Triple J)
Nathan Power had a wild childhood, growing up in Yemen, Kenya and Pakistan. He almost got expelled from boarding school for brewing his own dandelion wine in his wardrobe. His family had two pet baboons and a golden eagle. It was all very wild.
There are no animals on Nathan’s debut EP ‘We Were Wild’. Instead, these songs use folk guitar, mandolin and cello to focus on a different kind of wildness – the kind that lives in wandering hearts caged in bad relationships and salaried desk jobs.
People can clearly relate. In 2017, Nathan sold out the launch of his debut single ‘Solstice’, which was played across PBS, 3RRR and Triple J. 2018 carries on the momentum with a 15 date national tour and a string of festivals.
If you’re into artists like the Tallest Man on Earth, Bob Dylan, and Leonard Cohen, you’ll be into Nathan Power.
A drummer in a previous life, Nathan Power spent years honing his craft playing 120+ shows a year across Australia in a variety of genres including funk/soul (The Marionettes, Paint The Town), blues (The New Savages, T.K Reeve) and country (Patrick Wilson and The Bare River Queens), before appearing from behind the drums with a set of his own original songs.
Doors open at 7.40pm for ticket sales, we have no eftpos facilities so this is cash only.
