To celebrate Conservation Week 2019 the Heretaunga Tramping Club have invited all would be trampers to join them in a day tramp into the Kaweka Forest Park. The group will be heading up Kuripapango Hill, locally known as “Four One Hundred” after its height in imperial measurement, along a well-defined track which winds under the forest canopy before rising fairly steeply at times through the scrub to the top of Kuripapango Hill.
Time permitting the group will continue along the ridge to a vantage point where Ruapehu is visible. A great place to stop to have lunch before returning the via the same route with the possibility of a look at the Twin Lakes before returning to town.
Bring good tramping gear with suitable boots, warm clothing, waterproof coat, lunch, drink and snacks in a suitable pack. Reasonable fitness required. Transport available from Havelock North at $15.00 a head or provide your own transport.
