#BalanceforBetter Better the balance, better the world. How will you celebrate women's achievements on Friday March 8, while calling for a more gender-balanced world?
Dr Jackie Blue
Jackie's advocacy as an MP covered access to 12 month funding of Herceptin and was the architect of The Marriage (Court Consent to Marriage of Minors) Amendment Bill to prevent forced marriages of mostly girls, aged 16 and 17.
Over her 5 year term at the New Zealand Human Rights Commission Jackie held the portfolios of equal employment opportunities, women’s rights and LGBTI. As the Equal Employment Opportunities Commissioner her advocacy was focussed on upholding the human rights of workers, fairness in the workplace and the elimination of the gender and ethnic pay gaps.
In her final year at the Commission she was a strong advocate of the #MeToo campaign which focused on sexual harassment.

These days, Claire also works as a coach and mentor, helping women human rights advocates, humanitarians, and global leaders in aid and development, to change the world.
Balance is not a women's issue, it's a business issue. The race is on for the gender-balanced boardroom, a gender-balanced government, gender-balanced media coverage, a gender-balance of employees, more gender-balance in wealth, gender-balanced sports coverage ...
Gender balance is essential for economies and communities to thrive.
