Inside.Out is open mic for writers , with great musician guests each time, plus fun word challenges, random prizes of books and chocolate bars and loads of updates on what's on. Bring Your Writing - poetry, flash fiction, short story, performance poetry, life writing etc - to read at the open mic (up to 6 mins max) , or come as audience to hear what's brand new. Much loved musician and entrepreneur Chris Priestley has been involved in the Auckland folk music scene for over 30 years.

He released Unsung Heroes and Rogue; original songs highlighting some of Aotearoa’s rebels and heroes such as Hine o te Rangi (Jean Batten), Minnie Dean and Captain Moonlight. “The end result is the most entertaining New Zealand history lesson you’re likely to encounter this (or any) year.

”Marty Duda, 13th Floor. Chris is busy working on fresh projects including God’s Own Country, New Songs about Old New Zealand, featuring collaborations with many other stand-out musicians and songwriters.

Claire Robertson is a NZ-based traditional harp player. Deeply influenced by the Celtic tradition, Claire plays a mixture of Scottish and Irish traditional music. From a young age, Claire has been involved in numerous folk festivals. She received the Frank Winter Memorial Award at the Auckland Folk Festival. Claire has played alongside Adam Ogle and Emily Roughton in the band Three Point Turn and has most recently been part of Chris's 'Unsung Heroes'.

Five Word Challenge: Employ the five words Energy - Fragile - Dark - Te Waiata - Ingredient in a short piece of writing < 50 words all up and place in the Red Box of Mystery for randomly-awarded book prizes & chocolate bars. Plus, scoop up fliers on lit events & competitions.
