If you plan and run any type of event, large or small, this workshop is for you. Led by two experts in the field of sustainable events, this will help you get started on making your events zero waste.

You’ll learn about Wash Against Waste, an innovative way to avoid disposable plates and cutlery, what to think about when planning a zero waste event, and what support is available, such as loan gear and advice from experts.

About the presenters:
Dave Watson is the Specialist Zero Waste Advisor – Events contracted by Auckland Council and the National Network Manager at the Sustainable Business Network. Dave worked with Splore, New Zealand’s leading multi-day music and arts festival, to set a new benchmark for event sustainability. He is the founder of GreenShoot Pacific, a specialist sustainability advisory providing strategic services, systems, solutions and training for the NZ event industry.

Sarah Jane (SJ) introduced a Wash Against Waste (WAW) at the New Lynn night markets back in 2016. Since then she has built and run 2 WAW trailers, and has knowledge and experience in how to run and manage this at events. SJ also manages the ‘Zero Waste Events’ website on behalf of Auckland Council, and is the Team Leader for waste initiatives here at EcoMatters.
