From award-winning New Zealand playwright, Gavin McGibbon, (‘Holding On’ and ‘Under The Hood’) comes a heart-warming comedy of classic Kiwi characters in a play about a play.
Of course Hamlet dies at the end, I hear you say, but wait – before he does there’s a whole lot of shenanigans with a ragtag bunch of misfits trying to come to terms with life, each other… oh and Shakespeare’s great tragedy, Hamlet.
Hamlet Dies at the End would be tragic if it weren’t so comical. It deals with death but nobody dies (quite), it gets to grips with some “full-on sh*t” and it ends by affirming life in all its puzzling glory. From 91-year-old Charlie (, whose wife has just left him, to young Jimmy (Alex Gourdie), who set fire to his cat, the characters bring Hamlet to life in ways you never thought possible.
Don't miss the second ever production of this comedy with a terrific local cast.
