'Fertile Grounds' is a title employed to suggest several different meanings. The Waikato is perhaps most known for its fertile land, the Waikato University sits atop that land, instilling knowledge in young, fertile minds. 'Fertile Grounds' the exhibition considers the relationship between people and the environment, offering an alternative to an anthropocentric society.
Curated by Laree Payne, Director of Weasel Gallery in Hamilton CBD, Fertile Grounds, brings to-gether five disparate artists; Nicola Farquhar, Andrea du Chatenier, Peter Peryer, Denys Watkins and Ada Leung who offer a whimsical aesthetic experience, and substance for those who delve.
Fertile Grounds is showing at the Calder and Lawson Gallery from Monday, September 30 through to Friday, November 29. The Calder & Lawson Gallery is open Monday - Friday from 9am-5pm and is located inside the Academy of Performing Arts at the Waikato University (accessible from Gate 1, off Knighton Rd).
