A special Art Deco weekend service to celebrate the Art Deco era and Methodist hymn singing.
Art Deco Weekend is a special weekend in Napier - the whole town takes on a festive character to celebrate the rebuilding of Napier after the devastating 1931 earthquake and the then new Art Deco style.
Trinity Methodist Church built in 1876 is an earthquake survivor. Our Sunday morning service will be themed especially for this weekend. As with the whole of the weekend, you are encouraged to wear your Art Deco outfits - an era of the "Sunday Best".
And of course, morning tea or coffee to follow (for which we combine with our neighbouring church St Patrick’s Roman Catholic for a Gatsby Morning Tea).
(In the evening, we have our Music/Jazz Vespers Service, at 7pm. Our vocalist is Georgia Duder-Wood. Georgia is back by popular demand for our Jazz Vespers evening at Trinity.
Performing to a full church for our Jazz Vespers in previous years, this year promises even more with accompaniment by pianist Warren Sang. These highly experienced musicians will perform a selection of favourites in the home of jazz, gospel and blues – promising an evening to move your hearts and get your sprits soaring!
Come early to ensure a seat.
