Clever Box & Friends is back at Ink Bar this September and oh, how we’ve missed all you Clever Cats! Each party brings together the most wanted and relevant NZ acts to play alongside resident and curator, Clever Box.

Down the stairs at Ink you’ll discover a melting pot of fanatical techno adventurers, musicians and peace-loving earth wanderers all rubbing shoulders with the regular club-kids. There’s absolutely no discrimination on the dancefloor; it’s an awesome experience to be part of such a supportive and all-encompassing crowd that’s immersed in the same musical language.

We strive to continue and provide the vital ingredients that make the techno children of Auckland dance and lose control, sweat and be challenged and to walk up those stairs utterly broken, but inspired. On music duty this time, we are super excited to announce:

- Mood Control (Live)
- Arokx
- Clever Box

It’s just $10 before midnight and $15 thereafter, hope to see ya real soon! Mwah, Clever Rach xx

Mood Control: When two electronic music DJs come together as a team to produce their own sound, you know that you’re in for something epic; especially so when each has their own particular touches to add from years of working out just where their electronic musical hearts lie.

Craig James from NZ and Jonas Fischer (AKA Sanoi) hailing from Germany, have individually immersed themselves in the scene and developed their own flavours and styles throughout the years. Craig is renowned for his driving techno sets and Jonas leans towards the deep, melodic side, backed up by his symphonic studies while young.

Now they’ve joined musical forces together as Mood Control, the name of which speaks for itself. Neither man in this live duo is new on the scene, but the music they’re producing most definitely is. Live mixing self-produced, multi-layered tracks for on-the-fly sampling and manipulating… the possibilities are endless.

Arokx: Born in Maraetai Beach, NZ, Arokx is a South-Auckland sound creator who found an inner passion for producing techno and deep melodic underground music. Arokx continues to evolve musically as his soul takes him on an expressive journey to share his musical creations with the world, expressing a sound from the soul accompanied by deep melodic grooves and riffs. Truly something to be heard and appreciated.

Regularly playing at club events and festivals all over NZ and Australia, he continues to share his art as a DJ, while dedicating most of his time writing and composing music. He represents a style of music that's underground, consisting of deep, melodic techno with progressive elements ranging from 70-126 BPM. A set to be experienced as he shows you a reflection of himself through his music and unique vibe that can be felt as well as heard.

Clever Box needs no introduction. It’s a sexualised melodrama of electronic soul, set against a backdrop of warm, lush deepness, caressing and flirting with many different flavours of house and techno. Drawing upon years of DJing, performance, vocal work and music production, Clever Box has become a sensuous live house & techno act, that pulses with lyrical magic and never fails to deliver.

This set was truly memorable, so check it out, (you’ll also get to cop a feel of the flavour of the Clever Box & Friends club nights): http://soundcloud.com/rachaelsabin/clever-box-friends-dj-set-oct-2017
