The Chaperone Trio, of Jane Jarrett, Jillaine Wilson, Margaret Maw will intrigue and delight you with this unique piano art form! Six hands and one piano!
Margaret, Jane and Jillaine are registered piano teachers in the Waimakariri district. They played piano duets for many years before deciding to embark on a new adventure. Trinity College London
released their exam syllabus of Piano For Six Hands in 2014. It was this that became the catalyst to explore new repertoire as a threesome.
The teachers sat the Advanced Certificate, the first in New Zealand to do so, and passed with distinction in 2017. In fact, it was also a first for the examiner who had never examined that medium before!
The group has continued to meet and perform regularly in North Canterbury. They have begun to rearrange music for recitals, as this relatively new art form in the history of piano repertoire continues to interest both audiences and younger performers who enjoy the camaraderie that group piano playing offers.
