Astronomy Night: New Zealand’s Role in Space Exploration

Join Haritina Mogosanu and Sam Leske from the New Zealand Astrobiology Network to discuss World Space Week and New Zealand’s role in space exploration.

Joining them will be Tawhai Moss, Policy Advisor, Space Policy, of the NZ Space Agency, talking about the latest happenings in the space environment and what we do in New Zealand.

If the weather is clear we’ll head outside after the talk and look through telescopes provided by the Wellington Astronomical Society.

World Space Week is a United Nations-endorsed event observed every year from 4 to 10 of October all around the globe. Since 2019, New Zealand Astrobiology Network is the National Coordinator of the World Space Week in New Zealand. We inform and educate about the benefits we receive from space, encourage greater use of space for sustainable development and excite young people about science, technology, engineering and math. We also aim to connect people who are interested in space with those who are actively engaged in it.
