Sorry, this event’s been and gone
When:
| Sun 9 Sep ’07 |
|
Where: Godley Head, End of Summit Road, Christchurch City
A guided interpretive tour of Godley Head Coastal Defence Battery - great views and a great history - and you will learn about the defenders who spent time here during WWII in readiness to protect their country from foreign invasion.
Bring the family and your picnic lunch, or a a BBQ will be provided if you wish to buy sausies - you'll have a great day in the fresh air, and fun exploring secret tunnels and looking at huge concrete emplacements where big guns once pointed out to sea. You will see the spartan conditions they lived in. This is your opportunity to see an area not normally open to the public.
Wear shoes suitable for walking, and warm clothes.
If interested please send a cheque for $10 to cover the cost for a carload, and a stamped self addressed envelope to 'Godley Head Trip, 37 Dyers Pass Road, Christchurch 8022' by 31st August.
