The State Beach Series is an 18 event summer sports series taking place on Takapuna Beach on Tuesday evenings. The Series is a fun, relaxed and social event to keep fit, train for a bigger event or just enjoy a summer’s evening at the beach with your family.
Beach running is a great activity that is suitable to young and old alike, and what better place to do it than at a typical New Zealand setting like on Takapuna Beach in front of the stunning Rangitoto Island.
The State Beach Series offers two weekly run distances:
The 5000m Run event caters for all athletes from the social runner through to the competitive. Takapuna Beach provides a picturesque location, no roads, no traffic and a firm sandy base to run on. Come along and run at your own pace, set your own personal challenge or run with your friends and family. All entrants receive their personal time which is displayed on the results page and will be given points which will go towards the Series Competition, so long as you participate in 12 or more events.
The Junior Run 2500m is a great distance for the 5–12 year old kids and a great event for them to do with friends and family. They will be timed and given points and can check these on the results page of the website after each event. The points will accrue towards the Age Group Series Competition, so long as they participate in 12 or more events. We strongly recommend parents run alongside children under the age of 8 years old for safety reasons. After a successful first year, the Primary Schools Competition will once again see primary schools competing against one another across the summer. Please visit our website above for more details.
The State Beach Series also offers Swim (Junior 250m, 500m, 1000m and 1500m) and Stand Up Paddle Board (3000m) events each week.
