Take a walk into the tropical jungles of northern Queensland and you may just stumble across Bosko and Honey harmonising and strumming their ukuleles. The duo have performed together for 7 years and the ukulele has taken them to festival’s all around the world from Cairns to Japan, the UK and to New York. This time they travel to New Zealand to join west-Auckland’s ukulele masters ‘The Nukes’ for the “Viva la Uke” tour Jan/Feb 2013.

Audiences can expect to be dazzled by how versatile this little instrument is and perhaps surprised by just how much music it can create. The concerts will feature wildly unique flavours such as tropical strums and exotic harmonising as this humble instrument is gently caressed or perhaps beaten into submission. There will be plenty of humour as well as some dazzling playing.

Since beginning performing together just 4 years ago the Nukes have toured the country and played many of NZ’s major festivals including Arts festivals in Taupo and Taranaki and appearances at Splore and WOMAD in 2012, and even managed to get across to Australia for an appearance at the Melbourne Ukulele Festival. The Nukes have also released an album of their original tunes ‘Each to their own’ thru Ode records and will be taking the opportunity to launch the companion songbook on tour.

Both groups have featured recently in major documentaries, Bosko and Honey in ‘The Mighty Uke’ and the Nukes in ‘Bill Sevesi’s dream’.
The groups will also be running workshops in conjunction with concerts so people can introduce themselves to the joys of the Uke (the little instrument that’s taking the world by storm), or simply improve their skills.

The tour is designed to showcase professional ukulele performers in intimate, affordable settings with top production.

The Nukes first saw Bosko and Honey at the Melbourne Ukulele festival in March 2012 and immediately thought New Zealand audiences would love their quirky blend of humour and musicianship “ they’re a great act and we were thrilled that they were excited by the prospect of coming to play in NZ” says David Parker of the Nukes.
