Comedy Capers is proud to announce a special one off show "Scotch and Wry" featuring the very Scottish David Oakes and the very wry Chris Teal. With support from Anthony Wilson (8th March) and Matt Stellingwerf (9th March). Hope to see you there!
Originally from the North East of Scotland, David is a regular performer at the Classic Comedy Club in Auckland and the Auckland Comedy scene organizing and promoting comedy nights through his events company, “Comedy Capers”. A semi-finalist in the 2012 RAW comedy Quest and 2012 nz comedy guild best industry friend nominee, David is a clever witted story teller with a slightly warped view on life.
"Very Scottish and Very funny" - Brendhan Lovegrove (2012 NZ best male comedian)
Previously known as the 4th most recognised air guitarist in Whangarei, Chris is making a big impact on the comedy scene in 2012.
A storyteller who creates absurd amounts of hilarity from the otherwise mundane aspects of everyday life, he can leave you in fits of laughter whilst poking fun at society's hangups.
Anthony joined the comedy scene in early 2010 and since then has been gigging with the best of them. His unique, alternative, often risque style, mixed with a dark charisma and a mop-headed figure makes him a completely new type of performance to see. The sheer delivery of one-liners, seamlessly intertwined with stories, both true and those that he wishes were, makes him a lung-bursting laugh-out-loud comic.
"No one should be that good and that funny, that young. But he is."
"The riskiest young comedian in NZ"-Brendhan Lovegrove
"Anthony Wilson is definitely a talented comedian with a lot of potential." - The Dominion Post
A new face on the comedy scene and 2012 Raw Comedy Quest semi-finalist.
From his auspicious birth in Hamilton things would only get better for Matt Stellingwerf, eventually moving from just-outside-Paeroa to a-ways-from-Wanganui. It seemed from an early age that wherever Matt settled, laughter and increased instances of chlamydia were sure to follow!
Matt now brings a worldview inspired by alcoholic shearing gangs, bizarre Dutch relatives, and criminological theory to the stage and attempts to answer some of life's enduring mysteries. So come along, grab a brew, have a laugh and remember... lower expectations make it better for everyone!
