Over the past couple of months Printable Reality invited communities and individuals, writers and poets, local and international… to help collect poems/writings from New Zealand and around the world. Poems from any country, any poet, any language – any poems that deeply resonate with the reader and carry a message about: belonging, identity, travel, arrival, settling in, community, family, landscape ( land and emotional ), memory, ancestry, our vision for the future...
Poems for the project were chosen to best represent the cultural tradition and the language that they originate in. Although parts of those poems are “lost in translation”, leaving behind the old homeland, and parts will be “found in translation” – finding a new home and contributing to the new culture. Resulting collection of poems is transformed into Live Literature performance: “Aotearoa Found in Translation”, performed by an ensemble of professional actors and complemented by sounds and video images (premieres in Auckland, Basement Theatre 18-19-20th March 2013).
Now for the very first time the public has an opportunity to hear directly from the individuals and the poets that contributed to the project, from people that wrote or “found” those precious and sacred words of poetry - Poetry From the Soul.
Special guests TBA.
