Where: Matiatia Wharf, Ocean View Road, Auckland

Join us for an afternoon of discovery and adventure.

This trip is all about getting your cameras working, and learning skills in an environment where you can apply them instantly. Come along and have access to 2 fantastic photographers and their skills:

Emma Hughes will be showing us though her studio including a welcome drink and nibbles, followed by a mock shoot of a bride and groom at Little Oneroa, one of Waiheke's most popular beaches. Emma will be covering posing, and discussing shooting in direct sunlight.

Bring your cameras! This is a practical session.

We will then relocate to the stunning Cable Bay Vinyard.

Blair Quax will take over and talk about his photographic journey from second-shooter to 2010 Wedding Photographer of the Year and becoming a Fellow of the NZIPP. Also, what it's like to be the other half of Shine Studios, Waiheke Island based wedding photographers plus the unique challenges and rewards of working on a small island.

This session will be topped off by Emma discussing some of her editing techniques as well as showing us samples of her work. This will be a rare glimpse at the post production process of a highly successful photographer.

We will be treated to a glass of Waiheke's finest as well as canapés

This will be followed by the official grand opening of the 'Island 5' Exhibition.
Island 5 is a showcase of five Waiheke Island NZIPP photographer’s winning work from the Iris Awards.
Lauretta & Blair Quax, Emma Hughes, Phillipa Karn and Alice Doig

The ticket price will include all island transfers, you will need to organise your own way to Waiheke. (Ferry Tickets not included)
Drinks, snacks and canapés will be provided throughout the afternoon.

We recommend taking the 2.00pm Ferry from Downtown Auckland, however if you want to go earlier you are more than welcome to. You can either meet us at the Waiheke ferry terminal at 2.40pm or at the studio of Emma Hughes between 2.40 - 3.00pm.

We will have two return options, the 6.15pm or 7.15pm ferry. And for those of us brave enough you are more than welcome to stay for a social drink at one of the fine local establishments :)

This is a not to be a missed event.

Ps. This event is open to NZIPP members as well as the general public.
