Celebrating its sixth year, the Maketu Kaimoana Festival has become a “must do” annual Summer event in the Bay of Plenty.
The Maketu Kaimoana Festival is a celebration of seafood surrounded by great music at a fantastic seaside venue. Expect a sumptous seafood lineup with vendors offering a range of tasty kaimoana at affordable prices. And, there will be a bit of “landfood” for those who prefer non-seafood options, along with wine and beer on sale (no food or alcohol may be carried into the event).
This year’s musical entertainment will feature some of the best bands in the Bay of Plenty, past favourites as well as new groups from Tauranga, Rotorua, and Kawerau. And expect lots of other entertainment action on the day from on-field performers, to helicopter rides, to seafood cooking demos.
Come to Maketu by the sea, a great little village with a rich history. The Maketu Kaimoana Festival will take place on the Maketu Sports Ground which is located next to the picturesque Maketu Estuary.
And, this year, the Maketu Kaimoana Festival has a new low admission price of just $15 for adults with a discounted youth price and free for children under 5. Bring your beach chairs, blankets, and marquees. There’s free parking. It’s a great way to spend the day with whanau or friends.
