The World Skills regional final sees apprentices and trainees put their trade skills against the clock to complete a practical project within the allotted 8 hours. The winner of the regional events may be eligible to travel to the National finals in Christchurch in July. Selected National winners will travel to the World skills competitions in Leipzig in 2013.
Trade events at the Otago regional final include: automotive technology, fitting and machining, sheetmetal technology and welding. Joinery and carpentry may also run.
