Course content:
This class will cover a wide range of possibilities in wood, including turning, carving and a variety of surface decoration techniques. Students will be able to initiate projects to suit their skill level, making this course suitable for both beginner and advanced woodworkers. Led by an experienced tutor, this will be a techniques-based workshop with helpful advice on how to find your own creative identity.
Tutor profile:
Graeme Priddle has 20 years experience in the woodworking field, best known for his sculptural turnings/carvings reflecting his life and environments in Northland, New Zealand. He has won numerous awards for his work, which has been exhibited widely in New Zealand, UK, Japan, Taiwan, France, Germany, USA and Canada. Graeme has demonstrated and taught for numerous woodworking and woodturning groups and at many woodworking events throughout the world.
Summer Do:
The annual “Summer Do” is held in the beautiful and inspirational environment at the Quarry Arts Centre located minutes from Whangarei. The Quarry is the perfect place to immerse yourself in 7-day or 3-day art courses designed to be stimulating, inclusive, intensive and fun. We invite you to join us, to gain and share experiences and knowledge in the hands of an experienced renowned tutor in this supportive, social and encouraging environment. The “Do” also includes informal talks by participating tutors and fun evening events.
2012 marks the 25th year of the Summer Do, making it the longest-running art school in New Zealand.
