Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki presents the popular photographic exhibition, Who Shot Rock & Roll: A Photographic History, 1955 - Present.

Who Shot Rock & Roll travels to New Zealand direct from its United States tour with 173 works from more than 100 photographers and many rare and never-before-exhibited images. Photographers include Diane Arbus, Roberta Bayley, Henry Diltz, Godlis, Dennis Hopper, David LaChappelle, Annie Leibovitz, Linda McCartney and Albert Watson.

Organised by the Brooklyn Museum and curated by photographic historian and author Gail Buckland, Who Shot Rock & Roll is the first museum exhibition to acknowledge photographers for their collaborative and creative role in the history of popular music.

Who Shot Rock & Roll must end on Sunday 3 March.

Open Lates

We're bringing Who Shot Rock & Roll to life with a series of late night events featuring DJs, talks, food, drink and live music.

Tuesday 19 February
6pm - DJ (North Atrium): Grab some food and drink from our open late menu and enjoy tunes from special guest DJ Leonie Hayden
7pm - Snapshot (Level 1 exhibition spaces): Join us for a short talk on one of the photographs in Who Shot Rock & Roll by Otis Frizzell
8pm - Live Music: (North Atrium) - Enjoy a live performance by SJD

Please note that Any Day tickets to Who Shot Rock & Roll will be valid during the Gallery’s Lantern Festival late nights on Friday 22 and Saturday 23 January.

Who Shot Rock & Roll is the exhibition of the book of the same title authored by Gail Buckland, and organised by Brooklyn Museum, New York.

Children aged 12 and under visit free. Please note this exhibition contains some adult themes. Parental guidance recommended.
