Opening in the Main Gallery, Saturday 24 June, 3–4.30pm.
Seven weavers will explore the attributes of the seven stars of Matariki. Works will be constructed with a foundation of traditional weaving techniques, in a combination of natural and man-made materials and woven into a contemporary aesthetic.
The weavers in this exhibition are: Peggy Glover (Ngati Pukeko, Ngati Awa) Muna Lee (Niwa - Te Ati Awa Te Iwi), Ruth Woodbury (Ngapuhi, Te Hikutu), Bethany Matai Edmunds (Ngati Kuri, Pohotiare), Te Atiwei Ririnui (Ngati Rangi, Ngati Ranginui) Bernadette Papa (Ngati Whatua, Ngāpuhi, Te Hikutu), and one other star yet to be announced.
