The Maori Millennium Trust would like to invite everyone along to a free community event at Farndon Park, Clive.
A traditional haka performed by Te Aute College students at 9:30am on the Clive riverbank will start the day's event to acknowledge the hikoi (walk) from Napier to Clive.
Enjoy the river pageant provided by the Westshore Sea Scouts and Hawkes Bay members of the NZ Society of Geneologists which takes place on the Clive river as well as the Waka Nga Tukemata O Kahungunu with local dignitaries on board.
All day demonstrations in painting, clay, weaving, wood, stone and bone carving, moko design and adornment.
Join in the creating of murals with Chris Bryant, Sandy Adsett and students of Toimairangi.
Witness the signing of the Treaty of Peace and Friendship close to the original Treaty of Waitangi signing place.
Entertainment starts at 11am to 4pm on the stage with performances by some of Hawke's Bay's top artists: Tropical Downbeat Orchestra, Dave Boston & Friends, HB Latin American Club, Hastings Citizens Brass Band, Tipene & the Abbott, DJ Jrassic, InDaFlax, Smoke Stack Lightning and many more.
The stage will be surrounded by stalls selling food, clothing, arts and crafts etc.
Bouncy castles and bumper cars free for the children, free rides all day on the Waka Nga Tukemata O Kahungunu and waka ama entertainment on the river.
Free entry, everyone is welcome. This is an alcohol free event.
