Waiheke Coastal Classic Fun Run and Walk

Starting and finishing only a few minutes walk from the ferry terminal, the event is set up to be easy and convenient for people coming over from Auckland for the day.

The best way to see Waiheke and the Hauraki Gulf, run past million dollar coastal homes, through Forest and Bird reserves, alongside vineyards and through secluded bays. Views out to Rangitoto, Motuihe and Maraetai.

This is a predominantly off-road event using Waiheke's walkway network. The standard of tracks varies, with some sections more difficult than others. Expect to take around 50% longer to complete the course than the equivalent distance on road.

After feedback from last year we are moving the finish line to Matiatia, adding another 2km of bush tracks to the end of the event. We have GPS'd the course and it is now almost exactly 15km (meaning that the previous '18k' course was actually 13k...

All events start and finish from Matiatia next to the wharf. The finish will be located in the grounds of 'The Bay' restaurant and bar who will be serving coffee, food and thirst-quenching beer for contestants and supporters. We recommend that all entrants coming from Auckland catch the 9.00am ferry from the Downtown Ferry Building in Auckland (it also picks up at Devonport at 9.05am)

15k race - walkers start at 10.30am, runners start at 11.00am.

10k race - walkers start at 10.30am, runners start at 11.00am.

5k race - walkers start at 10.30am, runners start at 11.00am.

Bags can be left in a secure area at the start/finish line, free of charge.

$10 late entrant fee is payable from 7 March 2011
