Chris Bourke is a Wellington-born historian, journalist, editor and radio producer with a passion for music. At the 2011 NZ Post New Zealand Book Awards his book Blue Smoke: The Lost Dawn of New Zealand Popular Music 1918-1964 won the Non-Fiction Award, the People’s Choice Award and Book of the Year.
Bourke’s first book was the bestselling Crowded House: Something So Strong (1997). As well as writing, Bourke has been arts and books editor at the New Zealand Listener, the editor of Rip It Up magazine and producer of National Radio’s Saturday Morning programme and many documentaries on Radio New Zealand National.
