‘The Wearable Collection’ is an exhibition of Vanessa-Gaye’s exquisite natural couture paintings.
Vanessa creates fashion references for her artwork by gathering plants and flowers of all textures, tones and colours. She painstakingly creates the garments by sticking each petal or leaf to a clay model, which is then photographed. The photograph is used as reference for the painting that emerges. The end result is conceptual artwork which seems to pop out of the pristine white space it rests upon with a strikingly fresh femininity.
