Revered Chicago rockers Urge Overkill return to New Zealand in all their crushed velvet glory for a one-off show at the Powerstation in Auckland on March 6, 2012.

Urge Overkill return fully-armed with a back catalogue of solid gold nuggets like Girl You’ll Be A Woman Soon, Sister Havana, Positive Bleeding, and new single Effigy.

In support is local good-time rock 'n' roll heroes The Dirty Sweets.

Tickets are on sale now at Ticketmaster.co.nz.

The concert is proudly presented by Plus1, 95bFM, 63 and UnderTheRadar.

Girl, You’ll Be A Woman Soon became a worldwide smash when Quentin Tarantino used the Urge Overkill version in Pulp Fiction.

That movie’s soundtrack became one of the most successful of all time, and Urge Overkill went on to sell 2.5m albums of their own.

Those still with a fully functioning rock ‘n' roll memory recall Urge Overkill’s killer set at Auckland’s very first Big Day Out in 1994, alongside Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins and The Breeders.

With Urge Overkill’s return, fans can look forward to witnessing the chemistry of original singer-guitarists/songwriters Nash Kato and Eddie “King” Roeser, performing with drummer Brian “Bon” Quast and bassist Mike “Hadji” Hogkiss.

The first Urge Overkill album was the Steve Albini-produced Jesus Urge Superstar in 1989. By the early '90s, they were touring with Nirvana and Pearl Jam, before signing to Geffen Records, who released their beloved classic LP, Saturation.

This year’s acclaimed release Rock & Roll Submarine is their sixth album. It’s also the first since Exit The Dragon, which signaled their own self-imposed decade-long absence after rock ‘n roll misadventures had sapped the band's “joie de vive”.
