The University of Waikato invites you to hear Professor Darrin Hodgetts from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.
Working towards a socially relevant, responsive and engaged societal psychology.
Social and health inequalities are ever-present today and are associated with growing urban poverty. Professor Darrin Hodgetts has researched the everyday lives of members of the underclass in New Zealand and England. He has come up with recommendations for how psychological research can support service interventions and enhance social change initiatives. He will also look at the role of media and public perceptions in either addressing or perpetuating social disadvantages.
The Opus Bar will be open for a pre-lecture drink from 5pm.
