An annual exhibition by the members of the Guild of Woodworkers Wellington (Inc). It features wood turning and carving by some of the region's best crafts people. Some of those presenting work are national competition winners who have been recognised for their innovative new ways of working wood. Phil Quinn, Graeme McIntyre, Hugh Mill, Jim Lowe, Archie Kerr and others will be there.
Contemporary woodworkers are stretching the boundaries of wood as an artistic medium. Bowl forms are being made that are only a few millimetres thick and contain intricate pierced designs. Other material such as glass, beads and shell are being added to enhance the colour and grain of wood. A strong Pacific influence is present in many of the objects on display. These reflect the impact of the mix of cultures on the individual artists.
