Titirangi Festival celebrates the closure of iconic building Lopdell House, which is getting a complete 'makeover', as well celebrating the contribution of the Titirangi Theatre, with a series of fab concerts running on the first 3 Saturdays in August.
This Sat 11 August is 'Honky Tonk Angels,' a night of top local country, blues and rock with 'The Bads' (Dianne Swann and Brett Adams) - ace guitarist Brett has played with such artists as Tim Finn and, together with Dianne, has played support for artists such as Green Day and, more recently, Lucinda Williams at the Town Hall. The Bads will be joined by the funky-bluesman Dave Alley and his band, together with top local songstress Mandy Patmore and gloriously frayed rock 'n' rollers Th' Mutts, with special guest Peter Fielding. It'll be a great night!
Last of the August concerts is on Aug 18th. Dubbed 'Musical Forces', it features a broad line-up of talented 'world' musicians. Top tabla player Deepak Madhur will accompany Stewart Allan and his band Musical Forces in a multi-instrumental performance, with specially created projections. This act was a hit at the last festival. Also on the line-up, and another act to make a huge impression at the last festival, was Israeli fusion guitarist Arli Liberman. They will be joined by Titirangi's own uke orchestra the Fringe Ukes and the Latin/Creole sounds of Santiago.
These will be last opportunities to experience music concerts in this long-running theatre, as it now exists. Come and support this great community event- food provided, a cash bar and prizes. All this and a great night of entertainment! For more information and updates visit the Facebook page.
Pre-sale tickets available at the Titirangi Pharmacy in the village and at the door.
