Welcome to the Timaru Festival of Roses - the annual festival held to celebrate the arrival of summer and our city's close affinity with the rose. The Festival is four days of activities, walks, talks, tours, exhibitions and displays, art, theatre and of course plenty of Roses. But it's not all roses - far from it. There are plenty of competitions, shows and activities for the whole family.

The Open Gardens of Timaru - 8 stunning private show gardens that are open exclusively for just two days. Each garden is a botanical masterpiece.

Discover, Inspire... concealed down long driveways, hidden behind walls and hedges lie treasured, secret gardens of Timaru. From the spectacular to the compact, these stunning gardens showcase the floral delights of the District. The owners have crafted a brilliant showpiece and you are invited to discover the colours and charm of each property.

Enjoy the mystique of new breeds, talk shop with gardening gurus and sample the additional special attractions that we have placed within each garden.

And new for 2012, we present the Twilight Gardens – two neighbouring gardens will open through until 8.00pm, with a spot of wine tasting, delectable nibbles and live jazz from the Timaru Dixieland Band.
