The Quarter Pounder

Quickie Events presents: The Quarter Pounder, a men's only 10.5km run - exactly 1/4 of a marathon. Race starts at 9am. It's going to be awesome!

The distance of 10.5km is a realistic and certainly achievable distance for someone of little to no fitness to train towards in a month. All you guns who aced The Icebreaker Quickie in the Forest, you are most welcome to enter, and I really encourage you to bring a not-so-fit-mate.

The idea behind this event is that currently there are very few aimed at men, your average bloke, to encourage him to get involved and get moving. We want the men of Canterbury to really think hard about their body and how they look after it, because at the end of the day, it's the only one we've got.

Ladies, while you won't be racing, your role in all of this is just as important! If you have a partner who you think could use a little push in the right direction, who needs a goal, then The Quarter Pounder could be exactly the ticket. Get your man out there for a few jogs, join him or ride next to him, then on the day scream your lungs out with encouragement! You might want to pace yourself though, he'll be running past you three times.

Groups - do it! This is the perfect opportunity to round up your work mates and really challenge each other. Start up an after work running group once or twice a week, make a wager, do whatever it takes to get the team moving. The entry fee is very affordable too.
