The Diddy Dig is a woodchip shovelling competition for children (8-10 years old). The only place you will see this event is at Kawerau Woodfest.
The Kawerau Youth Council are the organisers for this awesome event.
Kawerau is steeped in its history as a mill town and with the Woodskills Competition as the jewel in the crown of Woodfest, it is the ultimate event encompassing all things wood.
The Diddy Dig is a quintessentially unique Kawerau Woodfest attraction. Only Kawerau can provide such as amazing piece of free entertainment.
The 16 teams of children come from local schools from across the Eastern Bay of Plenty and Kawerau District, they shovel half a cubic metre of woodchip into bins in a knock out tournament. The winners receive an awesome carved trophy and there are loads of prizes for the competing kids.
Only in Kawerau!
