Alternative Current presents thatta's sushi train tour of NZ

thatta will be hitting up the North Island for the second half of their tour. Part three is going down at Mighty Mighty in Wellington with help from some friends who have made it over to Japan in recent years to perform there.

Why would a band, whose home turf is right in the middle of the deepest entrails of the 'infamous' yakuza infested red light district of Kabukicho in Tokyo, choose to fly to the other side of the planet to let loose their "fearless and frenetic" style on some unsuspecting Kiwis?

thatta are not only keeping with their name's meaning "random" and "mind expanding" when taking on this tour, though this is surely one reason. You see, these guys have been inspired to visit New Zealand after sharing their Tokyo stages with some of our very own talent. Die! Die! Die!, Decortica and Tiddebades are part of a growing number of Kiwi musicians impressing locals over there. All three of these bands were supported by thatta during their recent tours

They are a five piece synth-rock group whose influences go from the Madchester heavyweights, the Stone Roses and Happy Mondays to alternative guitar bands like the Pixies and Sonic Youth. thatta have been thrilling crowds up and down Japan since 2006. Now that they have the local indie scene sorted they are stepping out of the land of rising sun for the first time and heading all the way to our end of the Pacific.
