Textural Painting - Jill Perrott

Course content:
Be inspired by the innovative teaching style of Jill Perrott a well-known west Auckland artist. During this course, it will be out with the traditional painting methods of oil and acrylic, and in with a few of the vast array of options and alternatives. Out with the paintbrushes, in with the spray cans, rags, templates, and rollers. Students can expect to have fun as well as be amazed by what they can produce from these alternative painting methods.

Tutor profile:
Jill Perrott’s professional journey as an artist started in the early nineties when her three children had flown the nest. At this stage, her paintings concentrated mainly on Auckland’s west coast beaches, where the Perrotts spent a lot of time tramping the coastline and staying at their Piha bach. Jill has always been pre-occupied with the unique character of the West Coast with its rugged bluffs, blackish bush and white light. Over the years she has experimented with textures and resins in her work, and as a result, her canvases have an interesting mix of surfaces that give the “feel” of the landscape.

Jill has won many awards, been published in various books and is an experienced tutor. She also exhibits widely throughout New Zealand. Jill works from her studio in Titirangi Auckland, overlooking the Manukau harbour
